Solar Panel Ballast Block
Solar panels in zero-penetration, flat-roof applications require ballast weight to secure the panel to the roof. Applications include flat roofs when non-penetrating options are preferred. Solar ballast block provides the dispersion of point loads without the need for penetrating roofing materials.
BALLAST BLOCK masonry units are manufactured with a special mix design to deliver freeze thaw durability for use as rooftop equipment (solar, etc) ballast and/or protection of roof membranes. When used for roof membrane protection, an aggregate bedding layer is placed between the unit and membrane.
Can be used as a walkway, perimeter ballast, or for full rooftop coverage.
Normal weight CMU density is approximately 135- 143.6 lbs/sq. ft. Full technical submittal documents are available upon request. Meets ASTM C1884.
(See CMHA Tech Note PAV-TEC-014 – Segmental Concrete Paving Units for Roof Decks for more information.)
Budding Co's ballast blocks combine high compressive strength and density which are important to the long-term durability of the concrete. Please Call 1-800-679-8718 with any special order requirements or questions.
